Reposting Ken's observsation of northward March of the southern pine beetle, a destructive pest into Southern New Jersey in the last few years. This is due to warmer winters allowing the extended range, one of the many effects of climate change, which needs to be seriously at all levels, everywhere in this planet of ours.

We've already crossed the tipping point with climate change, we should be doing all we can, along with the majority of the other nations of the world, to slow and try to reverse the rapid changes that are taking place with our planet's climate. We are only a few major climate change/global warming events away from catastrophic natural disaster that could have dire implications for humanity. It will happen in our lifetime.
As someone who is out in nature, every day, and who is an educated and keen observer of weather and environmental changes, I can't stress enough that our planet is in trouble. I see first-hand what global warming is doing to the Pine Barrens here in South Jersey. Many groves of pine trees are being destroyed yearly by Southern pine bark beetles that are not indigenous to New Jersey's temperate climate zone, but conditions have changed over the last decade or two, and the pine bark beetles have invaded and established colonies in the Pine Barrens where they previously could not survive. Our winters are warmer than they use to be, that has allowed the beetles to migrate this far north.
And what do we do? We allow an incompetent moron who happens to occupy the Oval Office, make bad decisions that are going to negatively effect the lives of generations to come, worldwide."
